The Policy amp; Advocacy Team is responsible for delivering a programme of policy influencing focusing on Irish, EU and international institutions in close collaboration with colleagues in overseas programmes. The policy and advocacy advisor on Human Rights and Civil Society Space will contribute to this programme of policy influencing within these areas, with a specific focus on corporate accountability.
Civil society organisations and human rights defenders are under increasing attack from governments across the world. In addition, the actions of irresponsible businesses are resulting in the displacement of communities, violent evictions, pollution of land, and destruction of livelihoods, with a disproportionate impact on women and indigenous communities. In this role, you will strategically advocate for the rights of communities, land and environmental defenders, protection of civil society space and corporate accountability, with respect to human rights and the environment.

Reporting to Head of Policy and Advocacy, this is a contract of indefinite duration and can be based in any Trócaire office on the Island of Ireland (Maynooth, Belfast and Cork) . The incumbent will manage a team of 1 professional (Coordinator of Irish Coalition on Business and Human Rights).
