Trócaire works in partnership with local and church organisations, supporting communities in over 20 developing countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East to bring about lasting change. Trócaire’s global Programmes Team provides technical advice and support to country programmes and partners and to the wider organisation towards implementing Trócaire’s current organisational strategy (2021-2025), ‘Local Power, Global Justice’ . It is Trócaire’s ambition to promote climate and environmental justice to support local partners as well as poor and marginalised rural communities to sustain their livelihoods and to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change and environmental degradation.
Trócaire has secured funding from Irish Aid to scale up its climate work across 6 priority countries (Malawi, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and Somalia). To support this work, we are looking for a Climate Justice Co-ordinator to ensure we have a comprehensive, co-ordinated and effective response to climate change and environmental degradation across programmes, policy and organisational responses. The Climate Justice Coordinator role will provide advice and support to the Climate Change response in line with Irish Aid requirements and Trócaire standards.
This is a multi-facetted role requiring a diverse skillset (e.g. Coordination with country team and HQ units; partnership and tailored capacity strengthening per country; Climate change; Resilience; DRR, budget and grant management; policy amp; advocacy and engaging on the organisational commitments to climate change). The role includes regular regional travel in Africa.
Reporting to Head of Programmes, this is a fixed contract of three-year duration and is based in Ireland, Ethiopia, or Kenya.[1] While located within the Programmes Team, the role will work closely with other managers within the unit.
Managing: 2-3 Programme Advisers, as designated by the Head of Programmes including a dotted line to the Disaster Preparedness Advisor in the Humanitarian team.

Key Duties amp; Responsibilities
This role combines the direct provision of high-quality technical support and guidance and supporting/coordinating the delivery of technical support through a team of at least 2 Advisors, to contribute to the growth and quality of Trócaire’s work on climate and environmental justice across all programme areas.
