Job Description

The Design Manager will report to the Head of Design Management and will be responsible for managing the design process of the specialist designers such as the timber frame contractors and light gauge steel contractors across all applicable projects.


Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Lead and manage the design process of the specialist design inputs such as light gauge steel and timber frame designs
  • Monitor design progress from commencement to design completion in line with the design program deliverables
  • Collaborate with the design manager and the relevant design consultants of each project so that designs are coordinated with architectural, structural, and Mamp;E designs
  • Capture any design-related lessons learned from design and manufacturing and feedback to Head of Design
  • Ensure that working drawings are in accordance with all Planning permissions, Building Regulations, and relevant standards
  • Implement standardization and value engineering where applicable
  • Identify innovative solutions where possible
  • Provide support and guidance to the site team to resolve technical queries
  • Other ad hoc duties that the Company may require from time to time

Requirements

  • Relevant experience in a similar or equivalent position
  • Experience in designing for manufactured assembly is a distinct advantage
  • Relevant third-level qualification
  • High proficiency in both AutoCAD and Revit is essential
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise workload and adjust to meet changing business demands
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to function well within a busy team, both within the department and the wider business unit
  • Be able to demonstrate high levels of problem-solving ability and ability to think 'outside the box', dealing with issues in a speedy and effective manner
