5G services are already being deployed globally and new 5G networking features have brought many opportunities. Beyond 5G, Next Generation network capabilities are already being designed amp; explored, addressing numerous challenges. Among them, complex network management beyond human effort is one of the key challenge. To overcome the challenge of network complexity, we need to deeply couple AI technology and mobile networks to create Autonomous mobile networks providing the best user experience amp; improved operational efficiency.

The Master’s amp; PhD intern positions are available in the Huawei Ireland Research Centre in Dublin within the Cloud Core Network (CCN) Ramp;D Team. The Centre is carrying out pioneering Ramp;D to lead the Telecom industry transformation towards Digital business, providing Intelligent (AI) systems and services to support such transformation and develop Autonomous Networks. The CCN Ramp;D team’s mission is to define Next Generation Intelligent Operations amp; Management Systems for Telecom Cloud Core Networks.

About the Position

The successful candidate will join our team to investigate and perform research work on Autonomous Network topics. More specifically, she/he will:

• Identify the key methodologies amp; technologies to enable the autonomous network in relevant, specific areas

• Apply state-of-the-art solutions to build a small scale POC on the topic

• Work with our domain experts and other researchers to prepare deep dive research reports

Requirements

• Master or PhD candidate in a relevant field is preferred (such as, but not limited to, Cloud amp; Network Systems, Machine Learning/AI applications for Cloud or network or system management, Digital Twin, System Modeling, Future Networks etc.)
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Self-motivated and results-oriented
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Highly developed analytical and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Desirable skills but not mandatory: Exposure to cloud technologies, Kubernetes or Docker, prototype development in Unix/Linux environment, AI/Machine Learning, Optimization methods
