Job Description

Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Policy and Strategy will be a hands-on and participative leader who will work closely with the Chief Executive (CEO) and the Director of Operations as part of LWL’s Senior Management Team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Strategy, operational planning and support to the CEO and Board as part of the Senior Management Team.
  • Project manage key policy, advocacy and research initiatives.
  • Work with CEO and relevant service managers to develop appropriate programmes to support women and their families including grant writing and reporting.

Requirements

  • Third level qualification in Community Development or a relevant area key to LWL’s Strategic purpose and/or a demonstrable equivalent (at least five to seven years) experience in working at a senior level in the Community amp; Voluntary or Social Enterprise sectors.
  • At least 3 years’ experience managing staff or programmes with strong leadership, strategic planning skills and a proven ability to develop and initiate programmes.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal amp; written), facilitation skills, interpersonal and organisational skills with a proven ability to work with both statutory and voluntary groups.
  • A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organisation and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making.
  • Applicants must have their own transport and a full clean driving licence.
  • Significant experience of policy and advocacy activities including policy submissions, papers and research.

Benefits

Remuneration

This is a full-time employment contract, initially for three years, subject to probation and continuation of funding. A probation period of six months will apply. The salary scale is: 47,000 47,940 49,139 50,121 49,035 50,347 51,124 52,146. The successful candidate will start on the first point of the scale.

Place of Work

The role is based at Longford Women’s Link, Ardnacassa Avenue Longford. In line with the current public health guidelines, there is some flexibility in relation to remote working but the role is largely office based.

Hours of Work.

The working hours are based on a 35 hour working week with some flexibility required. LWL office hours are from 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. On occasion, there may be some unsociable hours and travel (in line with public health guidelines) required as part of the role but advance notice would be given.

The holiday entitlement is 25 days per year.
