Job Description

Trócaire is one of Ireland’s top INGO’s, having close to 50 years’ of experience in International Development. Trócaire works in partnership with local organisations, supporting communities in over 20 developing countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East to bring about lasting change. Trócaire envisages a just and peaceful world where; people’s dignity is ensured and rights are respected; basic needs are met and resources are shared equitably; people have control over their own lives; those in power act for the common good. Trócaire recently embarked on a new strategic plan 2021 - 2025 with Humanitarian Programming identified as one of four core pillars for the organisation’s work overseas.

The purpose of this role is to support country teams in securing, managing and reporting on humanitarian funding from institutional donors

Reporting to Head of Humanitarian Programmes, this is offered on a Specified Purpose Contract for a period of 6 months) and is based in Maynooth or any Trócaire country office.

Key Duties amp; Responsibilities

  • Scope opportunities for humanitarian funding in specific countries and specific humanitarian sectors
  • Lead on the development and submission of high quality proposals for humanitarian work, often to tight deadlines and ensuring proposals address international humanitarian standards
  • Provide support on grant management and reporting of humanitarian funding (ECHO, UN, Start Network etc)
  • Engage with sister Caritas agencies on funding opportunities, funding trends, joint advocacy or representation as appropriate
  • Assume grant management responsibilities for HQ managed humanitarian grants
  • Maintain donor and INGO relationships specific to humanitarian funding
  • Monitor planned versus actual humanitarian funding status and progress against targets on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis
  • Maintain an up-to-date humanitarian funding guidance pack
  • Share learning across country programmes and partners related to management of humanitarian funding streams
