Job Description

Position: Trainee Pest Control Technician

Location: Kildare

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: 25,000 Per Annum, paid monthly


A day in the life of a Rentokil Pest Control Technician:

An autonomous role with no two days the same. From dealing with the corner shop right through to the multinational pharmaceuticals, this role will test you, excite you, and give you a tremendous sense of satisfaction at a job well done.

You will experience a diverse range of pests close up. There is no 'typical day' however it is not uncommon to get a call to deal with a rat problem quickly followed by a call out to an eradication of cockroaches. Requirements

Essential Duties amp; Responsibilities:

Customer service

  • To remain courteous and professional at all times
  • To arrive in a timely manner at appointed time
  • To offer one complete solution to address the client’s pest control needs
  • To carry out a full and detailed inspection on every visit
  • To complete accurate reports on every call, to ensure the client is fully informed of Rentokil Pest Control’s actions on their premises

Decision making

  • To maintain and update daily a planned schedule of visits in line with your branch targets
  • To phone your client within 1 hour of getting the call and to arrive at their premises within the agreed timescale.
  • To keep the client and the Admin Support Centre informed of any delay
  • To advise the customer of maintenance requirements to prevent pests entering the building both verbally and in writing.
  • To make clients aware of all risks associated with the recommendations.


Work processes

  • Adheres to company Health Safety and Environmental policies and obligations
  • To attend and complete all necessary training programmes for pest awareness
  • To make your supervisor aware of stock/ppe requirements
  • Adopts driver best practices
  • Correct use of hand-held palms, reporting faults to line manager
  • Keeps the vehicle in a tidy and presentable manner, representing the business appropriately

  • To maintain accurate records of daily activity through use of PDA

  • To avoid the use of jargon and continually strive to offer your customer the best solution to their pest control problem
  • To keep calm and professional in all situations
  • To ensure your customer pest control needs are addressed from beginning to end


Company resources

  • To keep the company vehicle in a clean and tidy manner, making sure to check the oil and water on a regular basis. To report any/all faults or damage to the vehicle immediately
  • To keep the company phone in a protective covering to prevent from damage
  • To maintain and ensure the correct usage of the hand held scanner
  • To maintain and ensure the correct usage of the printer
  • To sign for all company equipment upon receiving and ensuring all is returned if leaving employment with Rentokil
