Job Description

The Role:

This experienced IT Operations Manager, based in our Dublin head office, is responsible for overseeing the management and support of the company’s technology infrastructure. This includes managing a team of technical staff, as well as coordinating with stakeholders to ensure that infrastructure and service meet business needs.

You will be involved in identifying and evaluating new technologies, trends and capabilities that would support the Business Strategy and implement solutions that meet the company's technology needs; and working with other key business functions to understand their needs and ensuring these are supported in the application strategy.

This is a key role within the IT function and the IT Operations Manager will be expected to substantially contribute to the overall team effort and support colleagues in other functions within IT as well as peers in leadership roles within other parts of the company.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the IT Operations Team;
  • Manage and oversee the company's technology infrastructure, both on premise and Cloud.

· Manage relationships with vendors and partners involved in the Infrastructure and services delivery and support processes ensuring that services are functioning according to Calor’s needs;

· Engage with stakeholders (including sister companies) to agree technical strategies;

· Manage transition of some services from on-prem to cloud service providers;

· Ensure that the IT Infrastructure operates efficiently and that it delivers a secure platform for Calor to carry out its business;

· Lead, coach, develop and performance manage team members ensuring that they are motivated to reach their full potential.

· Implement new ideas and ways to utilise internal/ external resources and best practices to improve organisational performance.

· Challenge the status quo, seek out new, innovative ideas and solutions in response to evolving business challenges and changing customer needs.

· Plan, design and manage the IT technical architecture and all associated technology within the agreed budget;

· Manage the implementation of identified projects based on a broad and detailed knowledge of current and emerging technologies;

· Ensure the integrity of Calor’s electronically held information by performing regular reviews and testing of the back-up systems, disaster recovery planning and input into the Business Continuity plan where appropriate;

· To act as the 3rd line IT technical specialist, delivering solutions to complex technical issues;

· Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of the IT budget;

· Ensure efficient servicedesk operation;

· Monitoring and analysing infrastructure performance to identify areas for improvement;

· Proactively identify opportunities for infrastructure improvements and innovations that will benefit Calor’s business;

· Developing and maintaining documentation for infrastructure, e.g. technical manuals.

· Address problems quickly and directly; provide effective feedback, make difficult business decisions in an appropriate and timely manner.

· Build an inspired and committed team who understand their role in achieving the Business and Digital Strategy, while living the Values.

· Delegate authority and empower others to make decisions concerning their areas of responsibility and to assume accountability for results.

Requirements

The Person:

· A 3rd level primary business or technical degree or higher is preferred.

· At least 10 years experience in the management of complex Infrastructure, on prem and Cloud;

· Be an influential leader with the ability to communicate with individuals of all levels while challenging business leaders and the modus operandi.

· Be strategic with the ability to develop an extremely strong working relationship within the IT team, as well as with leaders within other departments and other stakeholders, ensuring joined-up-thinking and collaboration in the drive for efficiency and improvement throughout the company to meet the needs of the business.

· Passionate about Digital Technology and have your 'finger-on-the-pulse' when it comes to the latest amp; greatest in this regard.

· Demonstrate a strategic approach to achieve business objectives.

· Be proactive and self-motivated in the identification and development of opportunities.

· Track record in leading a team providing high quality Solution delivery.

· Excellent organisational and leadership skills.

· Outstanding communication abilities.
